A guide to Ohio Bar Exam logistics (updated 7/1/2021)

Please see the Ohio Supreme Court Bar Admission Website for detailed information.

Your admissions packet will contain the following items:

  1. Registration Application, which lists all the items that one must attach
  2. Certificate executed by the dean of the law school where one first began the study of law certifying when one first began the study of law
    • To obtain this, submit the Certificate of Dean form to Academic Services. The dean will sign it and Academic Services will submit it to the Ohio Supreme Court.  Academic Services has a deadline in mid-October. Watch your inbox for an email from Jay Ruffner with the exact date.
  3. Original, hard copy of college transcript from institution granting bachelor's degree
  4. Applicant's Character Questionnaire
  5. Fingerprint Identification Card
  6. Notarized Authorization and Release forms (see application for details)
    • DO NOT sign before you meet with the notary.
    • Jennifer Hines in the Academic Services Office can notarize bar application forms between the hours of 9:00a.m - 2:00 p.m.  SaraJean Petite in the Law Library is also a notary.
  7. Certified checks or money orders for the fees (see application for details)
