This year-long seminar is required of all SJD program students. The purpose of the class is to improve the academic writing skills of SJD students, introduce students to thesis writing, and to improve the English writing skills of those students whose native language is not English.
Prof. Jonathan Gordon is the Professor of Lawyering Skills and Director of the SJD Program at CWRU School of Law. He teaches the First Year Seminar and Advanced Seminar to international students in the SJD Program as well as Professional Responsibility to international students in the school's LLM program.
The syllabus for your course is available on Canvas.
Zotero is a free, easy to use bibliographic management software—tool that helps you collect, organize, cite and share research. Available via Mac, Windows, and Linux, Zotero creates references and bibliographies directly inside Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs. Over 9,000 citation styles, including The Bluebook, are supported. See Kelvin Smith Library's Zotero guide for more on features and installation.
Automatically rename, move, and attach PDFs (or other files) to Zotero items, sync PDFs from your Zotero library to your (mobile) PDF reader (e.g. an iPad, Android tablet, etc.) and extract annotations from PDF files. See UC Berkeley's guide for how to install ZotFile.
