Law Faculty with permanent offices in Gund Hall may request any known item (e.g. a cited research work or a book of interest) from the library for delivery to their offices.
Law FReDD offers a timesaving and convenient way for faculty to receive materials without needing to come to the library. The service delivers library books, scanned articles and book chapters, and ILL items to faculty offices within 48 hours for CWRU owned materials and 7–14 days for ILL materials
We'll deliver items from our own collection, send staff to retrieve them from the Kelvin Smith Library, or mediate OhioLINK or Interlibrary Loan requests on behalf of the faculty member. Requested material will be delivered to faculty mailboxes, and if preferred, articles will be sent electronically through email.
Placing a Request - Identify a known item(s) that you would like delivered to your office. You need not locate the item or know when requesting it whether we hold it locally, online, or otherwise. For books, articles, etc. provide as much citation information as you have, but we will be happy to fill in blanks. You may request this item either from your liaison librarian, by email, or by submitting a request on our web page through ILLiad.
Turnaround Time - If the item is available on campus in print or through electronic access, it will be delivered to you no later than the end of the business day following the day of your request. If the item requires physical delivery through OhioLink or ILL, or if there is any other reason for delay, you will be notified by email. If you are interested, we can also help set you up to track the status of active requests, or view your past requests, through ILLiad.
Returns - When you are finished using materials delivered through LawFReDD they can be returned via the law library like any other library materials - returned through the boxes on the second floor, brought to the law library circulation desk, or given to any library employee.
