Law Library Services During COVID-19 (updated May, 2020)

This is a guide to the remote services offered by the law library while the physical location is temporarily closed as of March 16, 2020.

Library Services

Reminder: The physical library location remains closed!

Remote reference services are available on Mon.-Fri. from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00-5:00 p.m., either via Zoom reference or by calling 216-368-5206.

Library Events and Room Reservations

  • All law library events and study room use have been canceled through the end of the Spring semester.

Access Services/Circulation/Borrowing/Interlibrary Loan

  • All books and materials with due dates starting March 14, 2020 will be automatically renewed to September 1.  Renewals will be extended and repeated as necessary.
  • Recalling items through the law library catalog has been disabled.
  • Any fines are suspended until further notice.
  • All borrowing of physical items (e.g., books) via OhioLINK and the interlibrary loan service is suspended until further notice.

Research and Digital Scholarship Services

  • Reference
    • Final Originality Check requests from SJD students or law faculty may be sent to Andy Dorchak at axd10@case.edu. Law faculty may also submit papers for review. Students also have a Canvas page to review their drafts.
    • 1Ls, your personal librarians are still available for you.
    • Reference questions can be sent to lawref@case.edu.
    • Librarians are available to conduct virtual research and digital scholarship consultations by email at lawref@case.edu or by Zoom at https://cwru.zoom.us/j/874460271. Virtual reference hours are available from 9 am to Noon and from 1 pm to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Addressing of off-hour emails will normally happen during the above-stated reference hours.
