Aggression (International Law)

Status Update

As of June 26, 2016, according to Update 23, there are:

  • 30 State Parties with ratifications registered
    • 6 have implemented the Kampala definition of aggression
    • 7 had pre-existing laws against aggression that overlap with the Kampala Amendments
  • 28 State Parties are currently, actively working on the ratification of the Kampala Amendments
  • 6 State Parties have made concrete commitments to ratify the Kampala Amendments
  • 14 countries made positive reference to the Kampala Amendments
  • 8 State Parties are in the early stages of the process

According to Sergey Sayapin, as of early 2014, at least 43 States have enacted criminal legislation against aggression or other crimes against peace. (p. 199)
